Jodi Takhar has a diploma in Professional Counselling as well as an Addiction Worker Certificate, and a Youth & Family Support Worker Certificate. In addition to her work in private practice, she has worked at a treatment centre (Westminster House) as a counsellor and family program facilitator for parents of addicts. Jodi has also been working with families in the foster system for 12 years
Jodi's mission is to fill the gap for parents of individuals struggling with addiction, and help them see the ways they contibute to the family disease of addiction. She believes treating the addict is not enough: by educating and treating the family members, established patterns of enabling and co-dependency that contribute to substance use are broken; thus, healthy relationship skills and coping behaviours are learned, and probability of relapse is reduced.
